Heniochus singularis

The Singularis Heniochus, Heniochus singularis, or the Singular Bannerfish, is a quintessential, yet unique, bannerfish that adds a modest flare to any tank. Unlike many other species of bannerfish, the Singularis Heniochus is more rare and less often seen in the aquarium trade making it an excellent fish for someone looking to add variety or rarity to a tank. The Singularis Heniochus differentiates itself from other members of the Heniochus family due to its unique branding patterns. A large white stripe encompasses the fish with smaller white rings around the mouth, and eyes. The dorsal and caudal fins are enveloped in a luxurious bright yellow. This is an impressive fish whether kept as an individual or in small group. The Singular Bannerfish can grow to be 10 inches, and should be kept in a tank no less than 120 gallons if kept individually, and no less than 150 gallons if kept in a pair. They can also be kept in groups, in a larger system. If keeping more than one, it is best to add them to the tank at the same time. They are a peaceful species, and is best kept with other peaceful fish and can be kept with fish of its species.  The tank should have plenty of open space to allow for swimming, as they are very active swimmers, and should be cleverly decorated with plenty of live rock, creating hiding spaces and caves, and to allow for the natural growth of algae for the Singularis Heniochus to graze on. They are not considered reef safe, as it will nip at Sessile Invertebrates and stony Coral Polyps. Once acclimated, they can become quite hardy, and are great for beginners. They should be fed an omnivorous diet, consisting of finely chopped meaty foods like Clam, Shrimp and Crab, live vitamin enriched Brine shrimp, Mysis shrimp, and frozen preparations for herbivores including Algae. Feeding 3 times daily for continued health.
